Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you, make sure that you are comfortable and will request that you complete the necessary patient forms. This information provides us with your health history or that of your child as well as information on the condition for which chiropractic is being sought.
Next, you will have a consultation with one of our doctors to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for our doctors to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
After your consultation, your doctor will perform a complete chiropractic examination to determine the likely cause of your problem. This will likely include testing your reflexes and flexibility, as well as standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests.
Depending on your specific condition, we may need to order X-rays as well. X-rays help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us to the presence of any serious, underlying spinal conditions. Most people are amazed once they see their X-rays up close. In many cases, these x-rays identify a history of previous spinal injuries which have resulted in or caused the problem for which the patient is seeking treatment.
Report of Findings
Once all the information is collected and examinations are performed, your doctor will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:
- Can chiropractic help me?
- How often do I need to come in?
- What will my treatment cost?
An initial accurate diagnosis of your problem is our first goal. By conducting a thorough health assessment and spinal examination we will be able to tell if we feel we can help your problem. If not, we will refer you to a specialist who we think is more appropriate for your health care needs.
If after discussion with your doctor, you wish to accept the program of care that has been outlined, treatment may commence immediately. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy modalities and/or soft tissue massage. Treatment is gentle and comfortable. Remember, our doctors treat newborns!
Prior to leaving, the doctor may suggest a wellness program to be performed at home. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness program, the purpose of which is for you to achieve good spinal alignment, perform appropriate exercises, have a healthy diet and maintain a positive mental state.
